Philanthropy

SDT Philanthropy

At the 1982 National Convention, the convention body unanimously agreed to adopt Prevent Child Abuse America as Sigma Delta Tau's National Philanthropy. Prevent Child Abuse America is a voluntary organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse through citizen action.

Through a variety of activities including educational awareness programs, community service projects, and fund raising activities, each chapter creatively donates their time, energy, and money to assist the National Headquarters of PCAA or a local child abuse agency.  Each Sigma Delta Tau chapter conducts an annual service project, educational program, or major fundraiser for the benefit of Prevent Child Abuse America.  Together, the SDT chapters contribute more than $50,000 each year to their National Philanthropy.

The Alpha Tau chapter is committed to raising money and awareness for Prevent Child Abuse America, in addition to many other charitable and philanthropic organizations such as Relay For Life, The American Cancer Society, Aids Walk Washington, and more.

From bake sales to trunk sales, our chapter is dedicated to raising money for PCAA. Each year, our chapter hosts SDT Speed Dating during second semester, an event that raises money for PCAA through participants from various Fraternities speed dating. At this event, we also make candy goodie bags that are donated to Prevent Child Abuse America.

In addition, our new fall mini-week of philanthropy is in the making and we are very excited for it’s debut. Check back for details in the near future!

The girls of SDT enjoy participating in both our philanthropic events, in addition to other Fraternity and Sorority events and various events around DC.
